BIRTH FROM BABY’S PERSPECTIVE:
BIRTH ISSUES AND DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS

WITH MATTHEW APPLETON

Three-day workshop in Copenhagen
June 8-10 2018

Three-day workshop with Matthew Appleton in Copenhagen, Denmark

“Birth from the baby’s perspective: Birth issues and diagnostic skills”

The stages of the birth process are usually defined in relation to the experience of the mother and the concerns of the midwife or obstetrician.
In this 3-day workshop, we’ll explore how birth looks like from the perpective of the baby. How this constellates into four distinct stages (inlet dynamics, midpelvic dynamics, pelvic outlet dynamics, and restitution and emergence) each of which has its own physical and psychological consequences.

You are taught to:

* identify physical birth patterns and the body language by which babies seek to communicate their birth experience

* differentiate between ‘needs crying’ and ‘memory crying’

* support babies birth stories with accurate empathy

* help parents to understand what their babies are expressing and to support the release of unresolved shock and trauma in the family field

* recognise the impact of obstetric interventions during the birth process

* understand the consequences of unresolved birth trauma in later life.

The workshop is experimential and varies between theory and practice.

Is this suitable for parents and parents-to-be?

Will food be provided?
We’ll provide snacks, tea and coffea. You’ll have to bring your own lunch or buy it in the shops or cafés in the local area.

Do you have Early Bird discount?
Yes! Until March 1st it’s 3.250,00 kr. From March 2nd the price is 3.750,00 kr.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes, fully transferable. Please let Copenhagen Doulas know the name of the new attendee.

What is the refund policy?
There’s no refund, but tickets are fully transferable, with no fee, if Copenhagen Doulas are notified (see above).

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
You can transfer your ticket to another person at any stage up to the beginning of the workshop, as long as you let Copenhagen Doulas know. You can also book for other people under your name without a problem. However, please let us know all the names of people attending.

Can I buy a student ticket?
We have discounted student tickets available for students enrolled in tertiary courses. Contact us if you are unsure if this applies to you.

When do ticket sales finish?
Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis so you can buy tickets as long as it’s available in our shop.

Can I bring my baby?
We love babies! Babies in arms are welcome, meaning you can occupy a seat and have your baby in your lap for the workshop. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee floor space to accommodate mobile babies.

If you are bringing your baby, please note:
**Because of space restrictions, you may not be able to bring a stroller, pram or car seat into the room.
** Please be aware that you will need to take your baby out of the room if she is noisy or distracting (sorry, but this may even apply to happy noises), and Matthew may ask you to do this if any participants, including himself, are experiencing distraction. This may mean that you miss substantial parts of the lecture that we cannot catch you up with.
If you book a ticket and bring your baby, we presume that you are aware of all of these guidelines. Thanks!
