On this retreat we ressonate with silence, walks in nature, inner and outer landscapes and in the depths of our own birth stories.

❤️ low birth weight
❤️ premature labour

- which leads to better health outcomes for mother and child.

The presence of a doula has also been correlated with

❤️ increase in breastfeeding rates

The advocacy doulas provide can increase well-being and satisfaction concerning the birthing process.

Your child is born with about 200 million brain cells, 𝑛𝑒𝑢𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑠.

When these neurons are activated, e.g. as response to experiences and feelings, electric pulses arise. Repeatedly electrical pulses lead to fixed connections according to neuro scientific principles because "𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟"

Black Breastfeeding Week is really important.
Here’s why ( again )
• Black women are 3-4 times more likely to die during childbirth.
• Black babies die at twice the rate of white babies.
• Black mothers are 9 times more likely to be offered formula by a healthcare professional than white women.
• Unique cultural barriers are experienced among Black pregnant, birthing, and breastfeeding mothers.
Black Breastfeeding Week, from the 25th to the 31st of August, is important.

Almost 1/3 of your baby’s blood is transferred in pulses from the placenta via the umbilical cord in the minutes following birth.

If you Wait For White (wait until the umbilical cord stops pulsating and turns white and flat) your baby will receive its full blood volume.

The blood that is transferred in the minutes after birth contains stem cells, which are the building blocks for life, iron, which impact baby’s neurological development and learning, and oxygen, which serves several essential purposes like metabolic processes, immune response, pH regulation, energy production etc.

In case your baby needs some extra help with breathing after birth, ask the midwife/pediatrician/doctor to do it on or near you WITHOUT clamping and cutting the cord - in this way baby and placenta will stay connected and baby will both have the placental lifeline and the respiratory support from a mask.
